The Lakeland Climbing Centre Major Projects Update
VauxWall West – 8,000sqft Bouldering Centre – SW8 1SR – Opened May 2014, New Arch October 2017
Since our last project update in August we have been busy behind the scenes with contractors now on site at 3 out of our 4 projects. Our new arch at VauxWall West opened on 27th October and has immediately helped address our capacity issues whilst offering 50 more climbs to get stuck into.

HarroWall – 38,000sqft Climbing Centre – HA1 4HX – Opening February 2018
Our two climbing wall contractors have arrived on site at our flagship project in Harrow. The steel frame is flying up fast and will promptly be followed by panels, mats, a world class range of climbing holds and then you lovely climbers. We are on target to open in mid-February. So you can plan your journey, HarroWall Climbing Centre is just 5 minutes walk from Harrow-on-the-Hill station within Unit 2a, Neptune Trading Estate, Harrow HA1 4HX – a 20 minute journey on the Metropolitan Line from Central London. Brian McAlinden who previously managed the ground breaking Climbing Works in Sheffield is now leading this project to completion.

VauxWall East – 10,000sqft Climbing Centre – SE11 6BD – Opening March 2018
Our most spectacular project is VauxWall East. This stunning Grade 2 listed 1960’s disused school hall is taking some careful love to bring it back to life. As with all listed developments, it has been throwing lots of little surprises our way. With the engineering complications of the main climbing arena (and it is an arena…) being on the first floor, we now expect our climbing wall contractor to start in January with the Centre opening in early March. It will be well worth the wait to bring this stunning building back to life and fill it full of climbing for you. At just 15 minutes walk from VauxWall West within the gated community of Cabanel Place, SE11 6BD, the Centre is equidistant between the Victoria, Northern and Bakerloo lines with ample cycle parking. Paul Cottee, VauxTeam member extraordinaire, is leading this complex project along with an army of VauxTeam labourers.

RavensWall – 8,000sqft Bouldering Centre – W6 0UQ – Opening ~April 2018 (Subject to planning)
Our fourth project, RavensWall is steadily progressing out west on the District Line at Ravenscourt Park train Station, W6 0UQ. Although similar to VauxWall West as it is within 4 railway arches, there is also a large yard which we aim to use in a similar way to Mile End’s secret garden. The project is due to be complete in late spring (pending some planning matters) and is being led by Paul Russell who previously managed The Quay Climbing Centre in Exeter and created the hugely popular inland DWS event.
